The film Submission shown in New York

In May, the film Submission reached UNEP. This is the highest international instance that is engaged on the issue of chemicals, and it is now hoped that decision makers will understand the seriousness of the situation and accept their responsibility for managing chemicals in the world.

Around 1500 delegates from all member countries of the UN, organisations and industry, were shown a Swedish film in May 2010. When they came to New York for the Symposium Safe Planet: United Nations Campaign for Responsibility on Hazardous Chemicals and Wastes, it was appropriate for them to see the film Submission, a documentary made by Stefan Jarl with the support of Formas. It was the UN Environmental Division that arranged the show.

- It would be a great honour for us to be able to contribute to the dissemination of this film and, most of all, to take the necessary steps to tackle the life threatening dependence on chemicals which permeates our society, had Michael Stanley Jones of UNEP (United Nations Environment Programme), Geneva, written in his invitation.
