Climate-marked food shops for climate-smart choice of foods, Methods to reduce waste of food in food shops, Support for green and ethical markets and sustainable packaging systems. These are the subject of some of the research projects which are to lead to an economic, social and ecologically sustainable commerce and which have been granted funds by Formas and the Wholesale and Retail Trade Development Council.
In the autumn of 2009, Formas and the Wholesale and Retail Trade Development Council jointly called for applications for research funds to promote new solutions and new knowledge in order to develop companies and employees from an economic, social and ecological sustanability perspective. The call was directed at universities, university colleges and research institutes which in cooperation and interaction with companies and the employees would develop a sustainable shop. A total of MSEK 36 has been allocated, MSEK 6 of which annually will be made available by each party over three years.
