On 6 May 2010, Research Council Formas and the Swedish Environment Protection Agency are holding a seminar on marine environment research – with the focus on communication of the research results. Sweden’s marine environment research is of high scientific quality, but there are serious shortcomings as regards communication of the research results to users and politicians. This is the main outcome of an evaluation that was administered by Formas and the Swedish Environment Protection Agency in 2009 and was carried out with the help of an international panel of researchers and users.
The evaluation is presented by Johanna Mattila, Åbo Academy. This is followed by two researchers who will give their views concerning the evaluation: Katarina Abrahamsson, Göteborg University, and Agneta Andersson, Umeå University. In order to give examples of research communication, Michael Gilek, Södertörn University College, and Kerstin Johannesson, Göteborg University, are taking part. Under the programme item “How do we go further”, ideas are presented by Anna Ledin, Formas, Thomas Nilsson, Swedish Environment Protection Agency, and Åke Hagström, Marine Environment Institute.
The seminar is held on 6 May between from 9 to 12 at the premises of Svenska Läkaresällskapet at No 10 Klara Östra Kyrkogata in Stockholm. Go to www.formas.se and look up the seminar in the calendar on 6 May. You can register there.
