In February 2010, the Swedish Energy Authority resolved to allocate MSEK 139 for a full scale wave power farm outside Smögen on the west coast. The technology is based on research at Uppsala University. The State support for the company Seabased Industry AB and the energy firm Fortum is intended for development of wave power technology in a full-scale demonstration project and commercial verification of this. 400-500 sets will be coupled up in the installation and will generate 10 MW. It will therefore be the largest of its kind in the world.
