One of the new projects which has received the largest grant concerns airways infections casued by virus in Swedish and Norwegian trotting horses. Researchers at the National Veterinary Institute receive MSEK 4.5 to study this problem over the next three years.
At the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences SLU researchers have been given a total of MSEK 4.6 over three years to devise new methods of diagnosing and making prognoses concerning joint inflammation in horses. A large Norwegian-Swedish project at Bioforsk in Norway and SLU in Sweden concerning silage fodder for horses will share ca MSEK 3.7 over the next three years. Researchers at Norwegian School of Veterinary Science receive more than MSEK 3 over three years to study throat conditions among Swedish and Norwegian cold blooded trotters.
The Equine Research Foundation has been formed by National Foundation of Horse Breeding in cooperation with AB Trav och Galopp ATG, Agria Animal Insurance and Swedish Farmers' Foundation for Agricultural Research SLF. ATG, Agria and SLF annually contrbute MSEK 7 to the Equine Research Foundation,. and. Formas gives the same sum to the Foundation.
